When was Creed formed?
Creed was formed in Tallahassee in 1995. A full band bio can be found here.
How did the band get its name?
Former member, bassist Brian Marshall came up with the name Creed.
How many albums does Creed have?
Three. Weathered, their third album, was released on November 20th, 2001. The album debuted at #1 and held the top spot for eight consecutive weeks, tying the record for longest run at #1. Weathered was recently certified 5x platinum by the RIAA. Human Clay was released on September 28, 1999. It debuted at #1 and stayed at #1 for 2 weeks. It is now certified Diamond (10x Platinum) by the RIAA. Creed's debut album, My Own Prison was originally released independently on the band's own Blue Collar Records label (known as the "Blue Collar Release" - only 6000 were printed). The songs were re-issued by Wind-up Records in August 1997 with a different mix and slightly different artwork. It has been certified 5x platinum by the RIAA. Combined, both My Own Prison and Human Clay have sold approximately 20 million copies worldwide.
What was the inspiration behind the song "My Own Prison?"
"I wrote this song at a time in my life when I realized that I could not continue to blame others for why I was in the situations I had placed myself in. I was blaming my parents, God, and anyone I could find, when really the only blame rested with me. Hence the phrase, "I've created My Own Prison" Realizing this helped me move forward in my life and make better decisions, knowing that if I was going to get better, it was me and only me that could make a change." -- Scott Stapp
Which members write the songs?
All of Creed's lyrics and music are written by Scott Stapp and Mark Tremonti.
Are there any Creed songs that aren't on Weathered, My Own Prison or Human Clay?
Who is that on the front of the My Own Prison CD?
"This is a friend of ours from college named Justin. Mark's brother Dan took this picture for a film class, and we liked it so much we decided to put it on the cover. We thought it captured the feel of the album." -- Scott Stapp
Does Creed have any videos?
Creed have so far released three videos from Weathered, "My Sacrifice," "Bullets," and "One Last Breath." From Human Clay, the band have made videos for "Higher, "What If,"(for Scream 3: The Movie) and "With Arms Wide Open." From My Own Prison, the band made videos for the tracks "My Own Prison," "Torn" and "What's This Life For", which was filmed in the summer of 1998 and has two versions: one featuring clips from the movie Halloween: H20 (as this song was used in the movie) and another with vignettes for each band member in place of the movie footage.
Who do the band members like to listen to?
"We listen to a variety of music. Led Zeppelin, Doors, Tool, Metallica, Slayer, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Eagles, Garth Brooks, Tea Party, U2, Otis Redding (helps make sweet love...), Bad Company, Beatles etc… I could go on forever..." -- Scott Stapp

Why was the My Own Prison record changed from the Blue Collar release to the Wind-up release?
"Blue Collar Records was a label that the band created before they signed with a major record company. We wanted to put My Own Prison out ourselves, but quickly realized that we had neither the funds nor the know-how, nor the man power to put out a record nationally. Signing with Wind-up was the best decision this band ever made, had we not done that, none of you would ever have heard of Creed." --Scott Stapp
